Tom Lambrou, a Greek immigrant who started his career as a shipcook, opened the first Landmark Diner in Buckhead in 1994. Lambrou chose the name after a diner he worked at on Long Island. 

  In 1994, Tom Lambrou made the big move to Atlanta to open his Landmark Diner in Buckhead. The main reason behind the move was that Atlanta was growing and the Olympics were on the way.

  Lambrou opened more Landmark Diner locations in Atlanta over the next few years. A second location opened downtown on Luckie Street in 2003. A third location, Landmark Diner Jr., opened on Cheshire Bridge Road in 2005 but closed after nearly 15 years.

  The downtown location has been used as a filming location for several movies and TV shows, including The Banker, Superintelligence, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Long Slow Exhale, Ozark S4, and Harold/Purple Crayon. The exterior of Landmark Diner Jr. was also used as a stand-in for JJ’s Diner on the NBC show Parks & Recreation.
